Class Descriptions
Three-Week Summer Course
(60 Hours)
Our three-week summer course provides intensive and thorough coverage of
both substantive and strategic SAT preparation. Students are given ample opportunities
to practice their new knowledge. Daily homework assignments are given, with
flexible options provided to students with less free time. Each class is taught
by an experienced instructor with the help of a teaching assistant. Class
size is typically 10 to 15 students.
Students who enroll in the three-week summer course will be placed in one
of the following course levels, according to their performance on the diagnostic
SAT exam we provide.
Grades 8-10
These are mostly younger students looking for a headstart on the SAT.
Students learn basic SAT test-taking techniques and develop their understanding
of the test material. Those who begin preparation for the SAT at an early
age very often prove more successful than those who begin preparing later,
and thus this class will no doubt prove valuable to young students aiming
for impressive SAT results.
Grades 11-12
Most of the older high school students have already been introduced to
the majority of concepts tested on the SAT. However they require guidance
in order to apply their high school knowledge to the standardized test
format. Classes will focus on developing test-taking strategies while
also reinforcing concepts in mathematics, critical reading, and writing.
In addition, the course offers students frequent opportunities to practice
in test conditions.
Usually, the grade 11 and 12 students in our three-week course are split
into two sections: regular and advanced. The advanced students are those
who are already achieving strong scores on the SAT. These students are
provided with individualized direction to help them achieve their goal
of a perfect or near-perfect SAT score.
Crash Course
(24 hours)
The Crash Course provides a condensed overview of test content and strategy.
The class will review the math, reading, and grammar concepts tested by the
SAT. Students will also be introduced to the most effective test-taking methods.
Guided by the instructor, students will discuss and develop longer-term study
schedules to structure their test preparation after the end of the one-week
course.
Eight-Week Course
(32 hours)
There are two forms to the eight-week course: (a) 4-hour classes every Saturday;
and (b) 2-hour classes twice weekly. The course seeks to provide a general
overview of both test content and strategy. In order to maximize the effectiveness
of classtime, students are given homework assignments at the end of each class.
Additional optional homework assignments are also provided.
Small Group Tutoring
(21 hours)
The small group program consists of private tutoring sessions of no more
than 3 students to an instructor. The program is comprised of five 3 hour
sessions along with a full proctored exam (4 hours) on the last day. Small
group tutoring is a fully customized program to the needs of the students
and is designed carefully with the progress of each student in mind.

The
Official SAT Study Guide by College Board
This book includes 8 official practice tests from the College Board,
the maker of the SATs. It is the only guide on the market that has
real SAT questions and is, in our opinion, the best guide with which
to practice and prepare for the test. Other companies claim their
own proprietary prep material. This is purely a marketing ploy as
those questions have neither been rigor tested nor designed by official
test makers. All students will receive a personal copy of this guide. |

|
Barron's
SAT
Barron's guide provides a thorough, straightforward overview of the
concepts tested for each of the three sections of the SAT. While we
rely on practice tests from the true testmakers, we supplement those
test questions with comprehensive review of tricky test material.
Each student will receive his or her own copy of this text. |
In addition to the materials above, the instructors will provide customized
materials for each course to provide advanced tips and strategies for each
section of the SAT.
